T E A M  Matchrace

  • Participate in an offshore duel of two teams. Be part of the winning team consisting of pilot and copilot during an exciting race against wind, waves and , of course, your competitors.
  • During an TEAM Matchrace a pilot and a copilot share one Kartboat and compete with another team on an offshore matchrace circuit.
  • All matches are monitored by a professional Matchsteward on the masterboat, who also provides personal assistance to the pilots, copilots and their guests.
  • Ideal also for Families.

S O L O Pilot

  • For single Pilots we design individual Kartboat circuits for their races angainst the clock. Timekeeping is carried out by a personal instructor and offshore coach of accompanying masterboat.
  • Up to five guests are welcome on board of the Masterboat to enjoy a spectacular offshore experience.
  • At sea the Instructor ist always available, when it comes to optimizing the pilot’s offshore perfomance. Shuttle Service Hotel to/from Boat included.

F A Q

How fast are the Kartboats?

The maximum Speed of the Kartboats is 40 kmh equalling approx. 20 knots.

Which circuits are are available?
  • The circuits for all matchraces are chosen by the Matchrace Steward after checking wheather conditions, wind and waves.
  • In order to ensure offshore conditions for the Matchraces, the circuits are situated in a distance of approx 5 nm from the coast line. 
  • A circuit normally comprises of four to six sections. To complete a Kartboat matchrace circuit, pilots and teams must finish several sections of the circuit.
  • The overall winner of an entire Kartboat Matchrace is the pilot or team who has won the most sections.
  • The Matchboat Steward on board the master boat provides all timekeeping and acts as referee.

Which rules and regulations apply during Kartboat Matchraces?

  • Pilots have to follow the international regulations of the COLREG - Collision Prevention Rules.

  • Driving a boat under the influence of any alcohol or drugs is not permitted.

  • The signals and instructions of the Matchrace Stewards must be followed. The decisions of the Match Stewards are factual decisions and are therefore not contestable.

Do I need a license to drive a Kartboat?

According to the Spanish and the European regulations Kartboat Pilots don’t require a licence. However, the minimum age for pilots ist 16.

Is it difficult to ride a Kartboat, even if I have no experience at all?

You don’t have to worry at all. The handling of a Kartboat is relatively easy. And there is always an instructor around, to assist you personally to master Your Kartboat.

What happens during bad wheather and sea conditions?

Our captains and crews frequently monitor the wheather and the sea conditions. If these conditions appear to pose a risk to our pilots and guests, we may postpone booked events and matchraces. However, bad wheather occurs very seldomly in the Canary Islands.

Where can I keep my valuables?

Small personal valuables can be deposited on board. Please check with Your Captain.

What about safety on board?

All Kartboats and the Master Boat are equipped according to the Spanish and international safety regulations for boats operating in this type of Canarian waters. Among other equipment for Your personal safety automatic safety vests are available for all pilots and guests.

How to dress?

Your dress should protect your skinn sufficiently from the sun. A hat or cap is very useful especially, when you want to take fotos or videos. Please choose light footwear.

May I take fotos or videos on board?

Absolutely. All our matchrace events will give You a perfect opportunity to shoot unique action fotos or videos. May it be for Your holiday diary oder social media accounts. Please note that we cannot take any responsability for the loss or damage of Your foto equipment.

Is there a WC on board?

No. We recommmend that You visit a WC in the port before departure. At all our departure points You find a WC nearby.

How can I pay?

You can pay with Your Credit Card, Your Debit Card and cash.
